The two other posters are watercolors of Capitola
Village with potted begonias in the foreground. I often paint a
strong foreground with large flowers or animals and a landscape
in the background. You can see that my style is quite realistic
and frequently I work from several photos and live flowers to acheive
one painting.
I paint with dyes on silk and watercolors. Over
the years of alternating the two mediums I have been able to apply
lessons learned in each medium to the other. My silk painting style
is pictoral and looks more like watercolors than most silk painting
styles. Some of my silk paintings have appeared in national magazines
such as Threads and Surface Design and three are in Susan Moyer's
latest book, Silk Painting for Fashion and Fine Art.
I have had the good fortune to have art on covers for the book publisher
Crossing Press, a cover of Prelude Magazine out of Monterey, and
labels for Devlin Winery in Soquel, California. I teach silk painting
and do demonstrations for the manufacturers of Jacquard Dyes. You
can see my greeting cards in Capitola at the Craft Gallery and at
the Capitola Book Cafe.
