Jacques
Dyes on Silk

Jacques, dyes on silk
Slippy, the Jack Russell terrier in this
painting was a neighbor for a while and belongs to friends who arrange
charter diving and fishing trips to Mexico. The tropical scene behind
him is one of the Cocos Banderas islands in the San Blas Island chain
in Panama. We had been anchored here on another friends' sailboat and
had a great time snorkeling. I decided on a whimsy that Slippy, with
my husband's mask and snorkel would make a fun painting. My husband,
Terry, gave the name Jacques to the painting as a play on words with
Jacques Cousteau and Jack (Jacques) Russell terriers. The palm trees
were painted with thickened dyes to avoid resist lines. Notice the fun
reflected clouds in his diving mask and the purple Guatemalan collar!
